The building is a mixture: Historic England date the right hand part as 17th century, and the left hand part later, with an attic story added in the 19th century. The old inverted cross probably dates from the 13th century. Ye Olde Cross only became a pub around 1901, but it had previously been a wine merchants – since at least the mid-19th century.
